I like apple seasons as I can enjoy the best taste of my favourite fruit. I have lots of recipes using apples and today I want to share my homemade applesauce recipe. Nothing beats the taste of homemade applesauce and it takes less than 15 mins to make it.
I never add sugar to my applesauce as dessert apples which I use for the sauce are sweat enough for me. Also I never peel my apples as I prefer more texture in the sauce.
Pour water in a pan and place over medium-high heat. Meanwhile, core and chop the apples into small chunks and place in the pan. Sprinkle over the cinnamon and add whole cloves. Bring to boil, put the lid on and simmer for 10-15 mins or until apples are soft.
Use a hand masher to mash the apples. Then drizzle the lemon juice and that’s really it!
Let the applesauce to cool then place in a jar. Keep in a fridge for about 7-10 days.
